Changes to employment contracts

We regularly advise both employers and senior executives on different aspects of proposed changes to employment contracts, from the negotiation of specific provisions in senior executive employment contracts to wider-scale changes to employment terms across an employer’s workforce. Examples of the issues we advise on are:

  • The negotiation of new key terms for senior executives during the course of employment, for example on a promotion, relocation or change of role.  This will often involve advising on variations to employment contracts such as new term/notice/termination provisions, more complex remuneration/bonus arrangements or more specific, bespoke post-termination restrictive covenants to reflect an individual’s increased role in the business.
  • Advising employers on how to approach proposed changes to employees’ contractual terms.
  • The interpretation of contractual terms and implementation of flexibility clauses which are drafted to allow changes to be made to employment contracts.
  • Advising both employees and senior executives on the legal options available in the event that agreement cannot be reached on proposed changes to contracts of employment.
  • Implementation of significant harmonisation of or changes to terms and conditions across the wider workforce, and related information and collective consultation requirements that may be triggered.
